A recent graduate of Oxford University, Leo Suter steps into the challenging role of Robert in I’LL FIND YOU aka Music, War and Love. Although he had extensive stage experience in student theatre, the film represents his cinema debut as a leading man. He has since appeared in multiple episodes of two TV series, Victoria and Ransom, and in Fallen, a feature directed by Scott Hicks.
He is also a singer who sang in his father’s choir, and performed in musicals at St. Paul Preparatory School - experience that proved crucial to his portrayal of Robert as an operatic prodigy. He had, he says, a “very nice treble voice” until it broke, turning him into a baritone. Uncomfortable with his new ‘sound,’ he ceased vocalizing, preferring instead to drum with a local band. In I’LL FIND YOU, he credits co-star Stellan Skarsgard for boosting his confidence with patience and private tips, and the music itself for inspiration.
Leo Suter was born in London in 1990 into a distinguished family. Helen Alexander, his late mother, was a lauded business executive (The Economist; Confederation of British Industry) who held Britain’s honorific title of ‘Dame’ as well as France’s ‘Legion d’Honneur.’ His father, an organ master, commenced his career as a drama teacher at Eton and is now an executive with the Broadband Stakeholder Group. His brother, Gregory, is a sports consultant and sister, Nina, in financial public relations.
